DVD cover templates

Filed under: Packaging & Branding — silvasphoto @ 2:34 pm

I just recently started printing DVD case covers for my DVDs and CDs.

Here are the links for the DVD templates.

A. Single-sized case. Download  http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/single-dvdcase.zip
B. Slim single-sized case. Download  http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/singleslim-dvdcase.zip
C. AlphaPak 3-disc case. Download http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/alphapak-3disc-dvdcase.zip
D. AlphaPak 4- or 5-disc case. Download http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/alphapak-4or5disc-dvdcase.zip
E. AlphaPak 6- or 7-disc case. Download http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/alphapak-6or7disc-dvdcase.zip
F. M-lock Slim6 case. Download http://www.digitalfaq.com/downloads/cases/mlock-slim6-dvdcase.zip

I edit it in photoshop to a canvas size of 8×12 inches then have it printed by a local photo lab on 8×12 paper and just cut the excess with a scissor or paper cutter.  (I find 8×10 is too small).

Here are some useful measurements for DVD and CD cases.

Standard DVD Case Dimensions
      27.5 cm x 18.3 cm
      Front & Back: 13 cm x 18.3 cm
      Spine: 18.3 cm x 1.5 cm

Slimline CD Case Dimensions
      24 cm x 12 cm
      Front & Back: 12 cm x 12 cm

CD Case Dimensions
      24 cm x 12 cm
      Front: 12 cm x 12 cm
Back: 12 cm x 14.9 cm. Divided into 3 parts – 12 cm x 0.6 cm for the front edge, 12 cm x 13.7 cm for the back and 12 cm x 0.6 cm for the spine.

Standard CD/DVD Label
      outer diameter: 118 mm
      inside core: 40 mm

Fullface CD/DVD Label
      outer diameter: 118 mm
      inside core: 17 mm
Exception: Verbatim Wide printable DVDs – they have an outer diameter of 119 mm.

Scan Resolutions
      recommended setting of 200 px/cm (508 dpi).

  1. Good information here. might I market my own little web page?

Here is my no thrills DVD cover Search site:

    http://dink.no-ip.info/CoverSearch/

The advantages here are that I autocomplete a list of Titles in a dropdown as the user types in a partial title. If the users only enters a partial Title then 20+ thumnails are returned. Clicking on the thumnail enlarges the cover to full size for saving the image to be printed on the dvd itself.

I think I’ve done a better job than most the DVD cover sites out there but you be your own judge.
